In this fast paced world, time alone with our kids at home is limited and before you know it the day arrives for them to move out of the house. Are they ready for what faces them? Quality time loving and getting to know our kids is paramount, but it is also critical to prepare them for living a life on their own.
There’s an old saying, “Marriage is forever, children are just passing through.” Nothing could be more true. As parents our job is to prepare our children to grow up and leave the nest.

As a parent of six and a former school administrator I can tell you the beginning of the school year can seem hectic. But we don’t have to be stressed because God’s Word tells us what we need to know.
A parent’s work may seem like it’s never done, but there are some tasks that should take priority over others.
God ordained that the spiritual lives of His people be centered in the home.
Deut. 11:18-21 You shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul…You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way,when you lie down and when you rise up. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers to given them, like the days of the heavens above the earth.

The greatest gift we can give our children is a vision for life and more importantly God’s vision for their life. In order to get God’s vision for their life and live it to the fullest, they have to be wise. That means that getting wisdom should be a priority.
Prayer isn’t a religious thing; it’s a legal thing. We are told to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) and that includes praying over our traveling! God watches over His Word, so let’s give Him something to work with by praying.
