All the laws of God concerning sowing, reaping, and increase involve two things for a Christian—tithing and giving.

“Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine” (Proverbs 3:9-10 KJV).

If we honor the Lord with our first fruits, He’ll see that we’re taken care of. We can’t get back what we haven’t sown. When we pay our tithes, we’re not paying Him something we own. God already owns everything.

God says we determine how much we have. If we make sure that we give Him the tenth part of everything we make, He’ll multiply our 90%, because He sees that we respect, honor, and trust Him with our finances.

“One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes other will himself be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:24-25 NIV).

The key to increase according to God’s principles is through sowing and reaping.

Take Away:

When we realize God owns everything we have, then when He tells us to give a part of it away, we will do so immediately. This shows our trust and faith in God. He’s able to give us more so that we can sow and reap again. Giving is a part of our lifestyle.
