One of the first jobs God gave Adam was to manage resources.
God created a garden that was overflowing with abundance, containing everything Adam and Eve would ever need, want, or desire. They were created with a silver spoon in their mouths and were given a home in paradise.
Yet God didn’t say to them, “Go have fun, kids! Use it up! Eat it up! Tear it up! Live it up! You don’t have to worry about taking care of anything, because if you tear something up, I can just recreate it. And if you use it up, I can just make more!” Nope. Along with that beautiful garden and all of that prosperity, there also came responsibility and oversight. God gave them instruction to steward what He’d given them: “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it” (Gen. 2:15).
Faith for prosperity includes faith and wisdom to manage it. God desires to bless us and prosper us, but He also expects us to use wisdom, be good stewards, and take care of what He’s given us. When we do, then we put ourselves in a position to increase and be able to handle more.
Take Away:
God will provide for us, but He also expects us to manage and be responsible for what He’s given us. We need to make sure we can take care of what we have before we will be ready to manage more.
