Believe it or not, marriage is a God-made institution. Man didn’t invent marriage, God did.
Back in Genesis, Adam was enjoying life. The weather was perfect, the food was free, and the clothes were cheap. He was hanging out with God, getting to name the animals, and having a good time.
God had been creating all kinds of things and each time, He’d step back, look at what He’d created and say, “That’s good!” Then all of a sudden, one day God looked at Adam and said, “That’s not good.”
Adam said, “What’s not good?”
God said, “It’s not good that you are alone.” All the animals God created came in pairs—male and female. Adam was alone. So God caused Adam to take a long nap. When he woke up, Adam discovered that he was missing a rib, but he had this beautiful woman as his wife!
God knew exactly what He was doing when He created Eve and put her together with Adam. He knew that two are better than one. Ecclesiastes 4:9 (NLT) says,“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.”
Everything God does is good and is for our benefit, including marriage. Marriage is a GOOD thing. It’s a gift from God, and your spouse is also a gift from God! Valuing and treasuring them will cause your marriage to flourish and will create peace, security, and harmony in your home.
The Take Away:
Instead of being critical and talking or thinking negatively about your spouse, pray for them. Respect and value them. Confess good things over them even if you have to do it by faith. Speak God’s Word over your spouse because God’s Word never fails.
