In the beginning, when God created the world, everything started out good. Man and woman lived in paradise in the Garden of Eden.
Then something happened—Adam and Eve sinned. Life as they knew it took a downward spiral. Man’s fall in the Garden set off a chain reaction that changed the entire planet. Things went from really good to really bad. Sin brought the curse into Adam and Eve’s lives. The sin brought consequences with it—pain in childbirth, marital conflict, and financial hardship, just to name a few. Because of their sin, they got fired from their job, evicted from their home in the Garden, and their kids started killing each other.
But God had a plan to turn things around, and that plan was Jesus! God sent His Son to rescue us, die for us, purchase our freedom, and forgive our sins. God’s plan redeemed us from the curse of sin. When we accept that plan, we don’t have to let the curse of sin and the traits of our old sin nature, like envy, strife, anger, hatred, etc. (Galatians 5:19-21) rule our lives and ruin our marriages and families. We have a new nature that includes love, joy peace, longsuffering, faith, etc. (Galatians 5:22-23).
We can have great marriages and great families because of what Jesus did on the cross!
The Take Away:
Put God first in your life and in your marriage so you can walk in God’s blessing.
