A lot of people go through life never realizing they possess God-given gifts and talents.
They never see themselves as anything special, so they live day-to-day just taking what life dishes out, never realizing their untapped potential.
How do I know what my gifts are? Well, what are you good at? Are you good with numbers? Do you like to organize things? Do you find that in many situations you somehow usually end up being the leader or the “go-to” person? Start recognizing some of the natural things that you’re good at and that come easily to you. Also, pray and ask God to show you what your gifts are.
If you enjoy working with your hands, building things, or doing carpentry work, you probably won’t enjoy sitting behind a desk for eight hours a day, pushing a pencil and doing accounting work.
Everyone has a gift or talent given to them by God. First Peter 4:10 (NIV) says,“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace….” And the gifts and callings God gives can never be taken away (Romans 11:29).
Once God gives them, they’re ours for life. Our job is to find out what they are and then nurture and steward them, so they’ll grow and bring blessing in our lives and the lives of others.

The Take Away:
When you steward your potential, God will cause it to grow. He said whatever you put your hand to, He’ll cause to prosper. But if you don’t do anything with the gifts you’ve been given, God can’t increase them. You’ve got to make the effort. God is the helper not the doer. So step out and start doing!
