It seems like every time we turn around there’s another bad report on the news.
People will try to tell us that things are awful and that this is the worst time to be alive. That’s wrong! According to the Word of God we are here by divine appointment, and there has never been a better time to be alive, to be married, and to raise a family.
In fact, our marriages and families should be a testimony to the world of the goodness of God. We’re called to be a beacon of light to unbelievers who have lost all hope. The Bible says people will come and ask us why we have hope, and we’ll be able to share the Word of God with them (1 Peter 3:15).
Philippians 2:15-16 (ERV) says, “But you are living with evil people all around you, who have lost their sense of what is right. Among those people you shine like lights in a dark world, and you offer them the teaching that gives life.”
Perilous times will come, but don’t believe the devil’s lie that it’s too tough to make it, and that the odds are against you in marriage and in life. That’s not what God’s Word says! We have God on our side, and if God is for us, who can stand against us (Romans 8:31)? We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ (Romans 8:37).
As Christians, we are called for such a time as this. We are called to be light and salt in this earth. When others are losing their jobs, failing in their marriages, and their families are falling apart, we can be a light that brings hope and healing through God’s Word.
The Take Away
Perilous times will come, but we don’t have to be afraid. As Christians, we can walk in peace and victory no matter what is happening in the world around us. If we will walk with God, honor Him, and keep His laws, then He will honor His word to us. We will walk in the blessing of Deuteronomy 28 and Psalm 91. Our lives will be a testimony of God’s goodness, blessing, and protection to those around us.
