It’s Father’s Day and we wanted to remind dads that God doesn’t want you to think small.
You’ve got to lead your family by example, so it’s important that you understand the plans God has for you!
God doesn’t want us to think small.
He has BIG plans for us.
I believe that God loves a bold attitude – not arrogance, but boldness.
CONFIDENCE IN GOD’S WORD
David was a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22), and David told Goliath, “I’m going to whip you.” (See 1 Sam. 17:45:47)
Saul told David, ” You’re not a man of war. You’re a sheep-herder.”
David answered, ” Yeah, but I’ve got something in here that you don’t know about. I don’t need your armor or your encouragement. I’m about to whip the snot out of Goliath.”
David was confident because he’d found something to be confident in. He’d spent hours in fellowship with God out there with the sheep. He thought I don’t need anybody’s approval. I’ve got God’s approval.
I’ve seen children come out of homes with natural self-esteem who achieved things that some believers would never even attempt. So many Christians blame God when they don’t reach their potential. They make excuses when they try something that fails, saying, “That must not have been God.” How many believers have you heard say that?
There’s no backbone in that. You have to know who you are in Christ and have some self-worth inside of you to reach your full potential.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Jeremiah 29:11 KJV
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Jeremiah 33:3 KJV
WHAT WE NEED TO DO
For us to reach our full potential we have to put something on the inside. The words of Christ should dwell in us richly. (Col 3:16 KJV.)
Without God, there’s nothing in us that’s going to be good. The enemy works on us the same way he works on everyone else to tell us how we’re not going to amount to anything.
Until we can bash that lie with the truth, we’ll believe the lie.
The truth is that God has called and gifted us. The truth is that He has a plan for our life, and when we ask, He will show us what we need to do to reach the full potential He created us to reach.
The Take Away:
Dad, you have to lead your family by example which means you need to set the standard for thinking big and obeying God’s Word!
