“But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace” (Psalm 37:11 KJV).
Being meek doesn’t mean being wimpy or weak. It means that I’m teachable and humble. When I walk into a room, I won’t do all the talking and try to prove to everyone how much I know. Instead, I’ll be humble and be willing to learn and gain knowledge by asking questions and listening to what others have to say.
Being a proud know-it-all and having an unteachable attitude can prevent us from learning. If we get stuck in our ways and refuse to learn new concepts and technologies, we’ll be left on the side of the road while life blows right by us. We need to be open to try new things, learn new concepts, and rely on the Holy Ghost to help us. We can’t let pride hold us back because we don’t want to make a mistake and look stupid as we learn something new.
We need to be humble, have a teachable spirit, and never stop learning.
The Take Away:
It should be our goal as parents to train our kids to always be humble and teachable. When they have that kind of attitude, God will see to it that they are promoted. “For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted” (Matthew 23:12 NIV).
