How to Balance Your Priorities

Life is busy, but don’t let busyness keep you from prioritizing what is truly important in life.

Today, Joe shares on finding a balance in your priorities when it comes to your family life.

The Take Away:

What makes you busy isn’t always important. Be sure to examine what is taking up most of the time in your life and that it lines up with your priorities.

Watch Your Words

You’ll never learn, Things will never change, Why are you so stupid, We’ll never make it…

It can be easy to let some of these phrases slip out in a heated or frustrated moment with our family, but those moments created the atmosphere of our homes. You have the ability to affect and create a healthy or unhealthy atmosphere at home by what you say.

This week, make it a point to say what God says not only when it’s easy, but when we feel frustrated or disappointed too.

Watch & Be Encouraged

The Take Away:

Whatever it takes, get God’s Word in front of your face and get His Words coming out of your mouth.

How to Avoid a Major Parenting Pitfall

We have such big hopes for our children and sometimes those can easily blend into what our own hopes are.

We have such big hopes for our children and sometimes those can easily blend into what our own hopes are.

It’s a mistake to base our plans for them off of what we want. Instead, our plans should be based on what God has for them. The goal of parenting is not to make our child like us, but to help them become more like God.

Watch & Be Encouraged

The Take Away:

Don’t expect your child to have the same talents you have. Find out what your child is good at, praise him for it, and then start stewarding what he has by taking him places and exposing him to people with a similar gift.

The Key to Getting an Answer

Have you ever desperately needed an answer to a question you had about your life?

Every day we face questions like how to deal with co-workers, how to parent our children, how to walk in love, or how to find what God has called us to do.

Did you know that as a child of God, you can get answers to all those questions?

Watch & Be Encouraged:

The Take Away:

We do the natural and God does the supernatural. The way to get our answers to know what to do is to read, study and obey God’s Word.

An Important Reminder for Today…

No matter what you’re facing today or how you’re feeling, remember this Circumstances change.

Who you are and what your value is, isn’t based on circumstances, it’s based on what God says about you.

The Take Away:

In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:37-39

Friday Funnies: God Help Us! – Parenting

Today, Joe shares how about being a young father and being on staff at a church.

After trying to find someone in the church to teach a class on parenting, Joe was handed the job himself.  This is a great story about how Joe started from scratch.  His first question was “where do babies come from?” From there he searched God’s Word to see what God said about parenting.

God is a parent and He has given direction on how to parent.

The Take Away:

Many times we have no idea how to raise our kids. God really does show us in His Word, the truths and lessons that we are to teach our children. Rather than be overwhelmed, allow God to reveal His plan for raising your kids!

God knows how to raise your kids….even if you don’t!

Friday Funny: Don’t Judge People

No matter who you are, it is hard not to judge people by their appearance.

We all have done it at some point. But the Word of God says in John 7:24 – “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” You see, God always looks on the heart. Man judges by the outward appearance. Joe shares a great story about his nephew with all of the piercings. Joe looked past all of that and saw that his nephew needed Jesus. Of course, Joe gets to the point in his usual “unconventional” manner. Listen as Joe shares the hilarious way he got to the kids attention!

Are You Making a Living or Making a Life?

People in the 1950s wondered what we would do with all the free time new technology would allow us to have in this century.

Man, did they miss that like a barn door! Americans are working longer and more frantically than ever before. They have no time or energy left over for the things that really matter.

The problem has become how to balance making a living with making a life. Just because the world runs at break-neck speed, we don’t need to become workaholics. We need to work the right amount of time to get things done.

The Bible says, “Six days you work, one day you rest” (Exodus 23:12). There’s nothing in the Bible about a 40-hour work week. You ought to be able to go to your job every day, be happy to go there, accept your lot, and enjoy your wealth and possessions. Enjoying life is a gift of God (Ecclesiastes 5:19-20 NIV).

We ought to be able to come home at a decent hour and enjoy some quality family time. We have to learn to be in control of our time and not waste it or allow it to be stolen from us.

The Take Away:

God intended for us to work but not to become workaholics. We are supposed to be productive and use our gifts and talents, but still have time for our families, for God, and for our friends. It’s possible to work hard and have time to make a life, and not just make a living!

Stop Fighting, Start Stewarding

It’s time to stop fighting over money with your spouse and start stewarding what you have.

There is a powerful biblical principle when you do this. When two or more get in agreement [Matthew 18:19] great things are possible.

Watch & Be Encouraged:

The Take Away:

Ignoring what God’s Word says about our money is a wrong step. Money (and its management) can be a point of contention in marriage, but when we follow God’s Word we can avoid the common pitfalls! Let’s stop complaining and start stewarding what we have. Stewarding what we have means getting a budget and knowing where things need to go.

How to Change Your Circumstances

The world is always lying to you.

You will hear how hopeless everything is. You will be told stories of people just like you who bit the dust and didn’t get up. But don’t feed on that!

Say what God’s Word says: “A thousand may fall on one side of us and ten thousand on the other side, but it won’t come near us! I don’t care what it looks like; God’s Word says that no evil shall come near our dwelling. ” (Author’s paraphrase, see Ps. 91:7,10)

Watch & Be Encouraged:

The Take Away:

Stop believing the lie that you won’t make it. Start believing God’s Word. In order to build your faith, you need to be reading His Word and asking for wisdom as you do. He’ll show you what you need to know.
