“… Live your life as your spiritual nature directs you. Then you will never follow through on what your corrupt nature wants” (Galatians 5:16 GW).
For an airplane to fly, the law of gravity must be superseded by the law of thrust and the law of lift. When those two laws work together, the law of gravity is cancelled out and an airplane can rise up into the air.
We are born with a carnal, selfish nature that we have to learn to override. The law of gravity is like our flesh, always wanting to hold us down.
The law of thrust is like our born again spirit, always wanting to rise up and follow the Spirit of God. The law of lift is the Word of God that we choose to act on. When we listen to our spirit and act on the Word of God, our flesh won’t be able hold us back in sin and bad habits. We’ll rise up and walk in God’s blessing and in victory.
THE TAKE AWAY
Children don’t have to be taught to sin. Their first impulse is to follow their flesh. It’s our job to teach our children to follow after their spirit and act on the Word of God.
