As Christians, we operate in two different economies—God’s economy and this natural world’s economy. To be clear, I don’t mean that God is separate from how we function with our finances. On the contrary, His Word is the foundation for everything we do and as children of God, His Word gives us clear instructions.

In God’s economy, the medium of exchange is “faith.” In the world’s economy the exchange medium is “currency”—cold, hard cash. To be successful, we need to know how to get faith and how to get currency. We also need to understand how both of them work together.

There’s a great saying we need to commit to memory:

God and money
One we serve—The other serves us

We have to keep those two straight. Money is not a god. It has no emotion, no personality, and within itself, it has no evil. If we get our eyes off God and get them on our money, then our attitudes are going to change. We’ll start having heart issues like selfishness and greed.

However, when we keep our eyes on God, realizing that He is our source, and every channel of increase comes from Him, and that money is just a tool for us to operate in this world’s system, then we can increase, keep our heart right, and be a blessing to a lot of people.

“The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22 KJV).

THE TAKE AWAY

We can function simultaneously in both God’s economy and this world’s economy by understanding that when we have faith in Him to be our source of increase, He will open up channels of opportunity that will bring increase to us from this world’s economy.
