A lot of people wonder, if God really exists, why does He let all the bad stuff in the world happenCouldn’t He stop it all?

Christians get frustrated when calamity and challenges come and wonder, Where is God? If He knows everything, and is all-powerful, and loves me, why isn’t He helping me? I’m a Christian, so why am I going through this?

The truth is that we have an enemy in this life and the Bible makes it real plain who our enemy is—it’s the devil. The Bible says he’s a thief, and he has three goals in life—to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Understand this, God is not the one causing bad things to happen in order to punish people or to correct them. John 10:10 goes on to say, “I (Jesus) am come that you might have life and have it more abundantly.” Bottom line, God is good, and the devil is bad.

God is not your enemy; the devil is your enemy. If you don’t know and understand this, you’ll be angry with God instead of using the authority He gave you when you became a Christian to whip the devil.

How do I whip the devil? One way is through prayer. God’s just waiting for you to ask Him for His help. He won’t push Himself into your life and take control. He’s not a dictator. He’s given you a free will to make choices. He’s waiting for you to come to him in faith and ask Him for what you need.

Matthew 7:9, 11 (NLT) says, “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead… Of course not! [11] So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.”

God is a GOOD Father and He wants to help us and meet every need we have in our lives.

Prayer is the number one way to get God involved in your life and He wants to be involved in your daily life. Learn more about why and how to pray in this month’s Building Stronger Families [Ep. 3].

The Take Away

What is the biggest need in your life today? Have you prayed and asked God for help and wisdom? James 1:5 says that when you ask for wisdom, He will give it to you. Sometimes we need to slow down, get quiet and still, and spend time in His Word in order to hear Him speak.
