God likes to show off. He likes to show off through you!
In the Old Testament, God wanted to show off through the nation of Israel. He told them, “I’ll be your God, and you’ll be My people. If you’ll obey me and keep my commandments, I’ll bless you. I’ll protect you. All the other nations of the world will be jealous of you because you’re so blessed! And they’ll see what a great God I am!”
God wanted His people, Israel, to be an example to all the other nations who worshipped other gods. He wanted them to see what a great life Israel had because they served the one, true, living God.
“He will change you into a holy people, dedicated to himself; this he has promised to do if you will only obey him and walk in his ways. All the nations of the world will see that you belong to the Lord, and they will stand in awe” (Deuteronomy 28:9-10 TLB).
God has not changed. He wants to show off through us born again believers so that the world will ask us about the hope that’s in us. Then we can tell them about Jesus—that He saved us, blessed us, healed us, forgave us, and redeemed us. We are to be an example to the world of how good God is and what a great life we can have when we serve Him!
