A great example of having a good heart but no knowledge is found in the story of King David when he brought the Ark of the Covenant back to Jerusalem.
Because of disobedience, Israel’s enemy stole the Ark, and David wanted to bring it back. Everyone was excited, but in their excitement, they didn’t consult what God’s Word said about moving the Ark.
David loved God, and his heart, or intention, was good, but no one could touch the Ark. David lacked knowledge.
The Bible says, “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). That means it’s up to us to get the proper knowledge we need. You have to get the instructions that come with what God made. The instructions are in His Word.
This principle applies to every area of your life, but we often talk most about this in the context of marriage. Your heart can be “right,” but you have to know what God’s Word says about marriage to be blessed.
Take The Away
Don’t think that because your intentions are good that you’re doing everything you can. You need to read the instruction manual (God’s Word).
