Our attitude toward money is a vital key to improving our financial future. As we grow into adulthood, our parents and the other influential people in our lives, are the ones who greatly define what we come to believe about our own abilities to prosper.

If we grew up believing that we were undeserving or unable to have any of the material things that would make our lives easier or more enjoyable, then no matter how hard we work or how quickly we accomplish our financial goals, our attitudes and underlying beliefs about ourselves will eventually destroy them.
Many of us were continually told by our parents, “Money doesn’t grow on trees,” or “We can’t afford that.” Those negative messages have been deeply ingrained in us from childhood, and although most of us may earn more money and be better educated than our parents, their wrong thinking runs through our souls. The only way to break down a lifetime of wrong financial concepts and habits is to develop some better ones. We can only do that by renewing our minds with the Word of God.
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” (Romans 12:2 NLT).
