As a parent, I want my kids to be prosperous and successful, that means they need to have some wisdom because the Bible says wisdom brings long life, riches, and honor. So, how do I get my kids to be wise? How do I teach them to walk in wisdom?

Solomon, the wisest and richest man on the planet said, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10 KJV). He goes on to say, “For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6 KJV).

If I want my kids to fear (or, reverence) the Lord, I need to teach them to reverence and respect His Word. They need to learn to spend time in His Word every day, meditating on it and getting it planted in their heart. I have a promise from God’s Word that if they’ll do this, they’ll live a long, peaceful life, and they’ll have riches, honor, favor, good understanding, and high esteem in the sight of God and man.

That sounds like a pretty good life! Who wouldn’t want that for their kids? But it all starts with teaching and training them to respect God’s Word, spending time in it every single day so they can get it down in their heart, and it becomes the standard they live by.
