The happiest people in the world are thankful people!
Have you ever given a gift to someone who didn’t seem to appreciate it? They just kind of opened it, looked at it for a minute, mumbled a quick, “Thank you” and then set it aside.Therewas no real heartfelt thanks. All the hours you spent shopping for the “perfect gift” ended up not meaning anything to them at all.
But then there are people who appreciate every single thing that is given to them! They’re so expressive and thankful that it makes it a joy to give them gifts! You could gift wrap a pair of mismatched socks, put a pretty bow on it, and give it to them, and they would be so excited!
They’re simply thankful for everything.
These are the kind of people that God can keep busy enjoying life. They’re thankful people who make it a daily choice to enjoy life and choose to see everything in their life as a gift.
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV).
If your circumstances aren’t what you want them to be, don’t lose hope. Don’t wait for perfection to start being thankful. Find something to be thankful for right now. Thank God, thank your spouse, thank your kids, thank your co-workers — find someone to thank today!
The Take Away:
Don’t wait for the perfect circumstances, find something to be thankful for right now. Change the culture in your own home to one of thankfulness. Model the behavior you want to see in your children. Set the example for those around you.
