“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross…” (Hebrews 12:2).
We’ve all heard the saying, “A mom’s work is never done.” Moms are some of the busiest people on the planet. Once those babies come along, mommas have very little down time. Children will tell you that daddies get to what they want to do. Many dads come home from work, eat dinner, sit down and watch Monday night football, drink three glasses of iced tea, and take a nap.
But good mommas do what they have to do. Many moms work full-time jobs as well. When they get home, they’ll make dinner, clean up the kitchen, help the kids with their homework, make sure the little ones get a bath, do laundry, pack school lunches and make sure the kids’ school clothes are ready for the next day. It’s usually 11 o’ clock before she has a chance to sit down and relax for a minute.
Mommas know how to sacrifice and endure because just like Jesus, mommas have a joy that’s set before them. They love their kids, and they will serve and sacrifice until all their babies are grown and making it on their own. They know eventually grand babies will come along, and that will be one of their greatest rewards! Mommas love their kids, but those grand babies are part of the “grand” prize of the joy set before them!
The Take Away:
Mom, it’s easy to constantly give and serve until you are worn to a frazzle, but that’s not how God meant for you to live your life. Take time out for YOU, and make sure you consistently spend time with God. There’s nothing that can build you up and strengthen you like spending time in the Word and in God’s presence.
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31 KJV).
