One of the greatest qualities a person can possess is a sense of responsibility. It’s important to start teaching your kids responsibility while they’re young.

As soon as they’re old enough, let them make their own bed. It probably won’t look the same as when Mom makes it, but they can put their pillow in place and straighten the covers. They can also learn to pick up their toys and put their dirty clothes in the hamper. If they learn responsibility at home, it will follow them throughout life.

Responsible people are reliable, trustworthy, and get things done, which means they’re usually given more responsibility. And in a job situation, that usually results in raises and promotions.

Irresponsible people are content to just settle for the status quo. They will work as little as possible and cut corners to get a job done. They have to be told what to do all the time. They won’t pick up after themselves or anyone else. They’ll step over trash rather than pick it up.

They’ll leave things piled up and undone for days because they’re not responsible. They may get by in life, but they’ll never reach their full potential or succeed the way they could have.

If you want your child to live a good life and be successful, teach them the importance of being responsible. It will promote them into leadership positions.

“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things” (Matthew 25:21 NKJV).

The Take Away

Responsibility brings promotion and reward because responsible people are trained to be go-getters and self-starters. They don’t need someone looking over their shoulder. They see what needs to be done, and they will take initiative and do it to the best of their ability.
