Earlier this month, we asked couples to compliment each other. It’s interesting what people said they loved most about their significant other when given the chance to share.
This time around, we’re talking about the top 5 traits wives complimented most about their husband – and you just might be surprised at the results.
Many men might think it’s how good looking they are or how successful they are that their spouse finds most attractive, but overwhelmingly the women who shared had something else on their mind.
1. He loves, honors and serves God (and seeing that encourages me to do that as well).
This was far and above the most given compliment in various forms. It was a source of encouragement, comfort and partnership. To know that their spouse loved and was seeking God was what they loved most about them.
2. He prays for me and with me.
Women gave examples of how their husbands not only prayed with them about things, but that they knew and saw their husband praying for them.
3. He is a devoted and involved father.
(Example: He reads scripture to them. He prays with them, etc.)
Notice that no one said, “perfect” father, they just said involved. It’s not about being perfect, because no one is. Don’t think that just because you don’t have all the answers all the time that you’re not doing a good job. Being there and seeking God when you don’t know the answers not only strengthens your relationship with your spouse, but is also a living example of what your child should do when they need help, which is go to God.
4. He pays attention to the little things.
(Example: He knows my likes and dislikes. He helps me with my coat. He listens.)
Grand gestures are great and fun, but don’t think that just because it’s not a diamond or trip around the world that it’s not important enough to give. Little things. Every day kinds of things. Those add up over time to be some of the most important in life. It’s worth it to take note.
5. He is selfless.
(Example: He works hard, yet still makes time for us. He plans “spur of the moment” date nights to surprise me, Even if he’s tired he lets me blow off steam about something.)
Even on days when they may not say something, your efforts aren’t going unnoticed. If not by your spouse, it’s seen by God. He sees your heart and you can’t go wrong by obeying His Word.
In this post, we focused on what women said about their husbands, but the same is true in the reverse. These same traits aren’t only good for husbands, they work for wives too. We’ll talk more about what husband’s noted in another post soon.

THE TAKE AWAY
