“Wisdom makes life pleasant…” (Proverbs 3:17 CEV).
If you have any desire at all to live a better life, here’s a practical tip. Get a yellow Steno pad, or your iPad, or computer and make two lists. At the top of one list, write: “What Happens to Wise People,” and on the other list write: “What Happens to Foolish People.”
Then, turn to Proverbs chapter one and start reading through the entire book. As you’re reading, write down on each list what happens to wise people and to foolish people. As you do, you’ll start to see a distinct difference between the two.
Once you have your lists, it’s up to you to decide which one you want to be on. It’s completely your choice. People aren’t born with wisdom or foolishness in their DNA. It’s based on the choices they make. The rewards for each list are different. If you choose to be on the “wise list,” you’ll have blessing. If you choose to be on the “foolish list,” you’ll have cursing.
God won’t choose for you, but He does tell us what will happen to wise people and what will happen to foolish people. That’s why it’s so important to read the Bible.
God said in Deuteronomy 30:19 (ERV), “Today I am giving you a choice of two ways. … The first choice will bring a blessing. The other choice will bring a curse. So choose life! Then you and your children will live.”
